General information on SIRIUS

On the pedigree (shown below) you'll see that the mother's breed line of Sirius is from Belgium. All dogs in that line are free on Hip Dysplasia. The breed line on father's side is from The Netherlands/Switzerland and these dogs are also free on Hip Dysplasia. Of course is Sirius checked on his hips too: and FREE !!

We also X-rayed his elbows and have send these photographs to the veterinary University of Bern (Switzerland) to have them examined. The professors concluded that Sirius is free on Elbow Dysplasia (ED/OCD free). All this is why Sirius is so frequently used in the Netherlands as a stud dog. He was Dutch BMD top stud dog in 1993, 1994 and 1995 !!

The Dutch BMD club has an exam on exterior (show) and behavior (character). Sirius passed both exams easily. He passed his exam on character with an EXCELLENT!!! He has a really good temper and has a "will to please". We did some obedience training with Sirius and after that he joined a few competitions on obedience. Before he was one year old he had already won one of these contests! That is why  Sirius as a father always was a good choice !

On regional and (inter)national shows Sirius got excellent results. Most of the times he was one of the best of his category. His children are beautiful, well and sound build and with the right markings. Many of them were on an international show and won many prices. 

Beauty is one, health is another and according to our breed program of more importance then show results. Sirius is from a very healthy family. His father, Alfo fan the Mounehoarne was 10 years old when he died. In that 10 years he didn't need a vet for any disease (except in his last year of course). The mother of Sirius Jonkvrouwe van het Emliwehof was until her 11 year always a very vital and healthy dog. She has been the leader of our bunch gang until the end!!! Also Sirius has not been to a vet until one months before he died. As you understand these were very good reasons to use Sirius as a stud dog to improve also the health of our BMD population!
